2001 Harper's Row
This dry white is a rich and complex combination of Pinot
Gris with Schönburger. It was named for John Harper, a pioneer of
grapegrowing in British Columbia, who brought his dream to Vancouver Island,
starting a vineyard in 1987 for tissue culture purposes in a partnership
which later folded, eventually planting his small dream vineyard in Cobble
Hill when he was in his eighties. John and his wife Verna propagated our
Pinot Gris vines for us and John used to pop by now and again to ask "So,
how's my row doing?" He passed away before the vines bore fruit and
we will sorely miss being able to share a glass with him.
Harper's Row was aged in French Oak and is round and smooth with beguiling
fruit tones in both nose and palate.
13.2% alcohol. Sealed with a crown cap instead of a cork to better preserve
the quality of the wine.
