Pinot 2006 Reserve and a Baby on the Way

Pinot 2006 Reserve and a Baby on the Way

2011 was quite a season. We finished harvest on November 10th, a full month later than usual! With the wine shop cozy and warm, some fabulous wines and a new line of culinary products to share, we invite you to join us during our extended hours Wednesday to Sunday from 10 am to 4 pm until December 23rd
To tempt you to venture out into the rain to visit us, we are adding our big 2006 Pinot Noir Reserve to the lineup of wines for tasting. Michelle’s pairing suggestion is dinosaur, not available locally but you could try Drumheller, Alberta. Failing that, lamb or beef of any kind would work! For those of you too distant to visit, use our handy online order form. Please note that we cannot send wine to the US.

The Big News

For those of you who did not get the "bun in the oven" reference in our last newsletter, Michelle and Ben are expecting their first child (our first grandchild) on January 17. Here he is whan he was really little. We are having a Baby Pool: Visit the wine shop or place an online order and you’ll receive an entry form to guess the date and time of Connor William Wallace’s entrance into the world.
Entries must be received by December 31st. The person with the closest estimate will receive a bottle of his or her choice from anything currently available for pickup at the winery or the cost of mailing.

I get frazzled at this time of year and do not enjoy circling parking lots and fighting noisy crowds. I am determined to get my Christmas shopping finished early with thoughtful gifts – a novel concept!
Visitors are already picking out special presents for the adults on their list, drinkers and non-drinkers alike. Imagine what a welcome stocking stuffer a bottle of verjus or one of Michelle’s small lot, handcrafted jams or jellies would be! And for that special wine and/or food lover, you could go all the way on selection of wines (sparkling, red, white and/or sweet amber) or our ancient method balsamic vinegar in a bottle hand painted with wildflowers and fired by local artist Terry Harrison. Check out the Balsamic Vinegar page and  click on “read more” next to each vinegar. You’ll find an enlargeable photo and a description of each wildflower.
Our Verjus & other products page includes the jams and jellies and two varieties of Melinda’s Biscotti, made close by in Sidney on Vancouver Island. They go so well with our Brandenburg No.3 wine.
We would be happy to put together a selection of your choice, gift wrap and send direct to your distant friends and relatives for you. Gift wrapping is $5 (including HST). Don’t forget to tell us what you would like written on the gift tag.
Enquire about special pricing for corporate gifts and large orders (three or more cases).

Christmas Dinner

If turkey is part of your Christmas, Hanukkah or other winter holiday dinner tradition, make it even more special by adding verjus to the juices to when making your gravy. It adds an amazing subtle fruitiness and an extra zing that will amaze your family and guests. As for the wines, the Indigo and Millefiori would be great choices for whites. For those who prefer reds even with white meats, the Nero di Collina 2009 would be yummy.
Our family likes sparkling wine, even with main courses, so one of our Bruts is sure to be on the table, too. It also goes so well with our home made tortelli, a Venturi-Schulze family holiday tradition.
Plum pudding, biscotti or a cheese platter for after the meal? Brandenburg No.3!!

Thank you

Thank you to all who brought guests to our August 28 special event. The winner of our assortment of goodies for bringing someone new to us was Megan Hamlet. Congratulations, Megan!
