Grand Opening Sunday August 28th, 2011

Join us on Sunday August 28th between 10 am and 4:30 pm as we celebrate the official Grand Opening of the new store. Chef Steve Elskens and Christle Pope will be here serving up delicious cuisine from their mobile kitchen "Farm's Gate Food" and we will have lots of delicious wine for purchase, of course, to accompany the food. Early birds can enjoy a brunch for $10 (soft scrambled eggs, moroccan spiced chicken sausage and potato chorizo fritters) and you can order all day from the wonderful selection of small plate dishes at $5 each. Come and see the amazing woodwork by Gelinas Carr Furniture and the great wine shop design by JC Scott. There will be pieces from some of our fellow "Cowichan Valley Artisans" on display, including pottery by Cathi Jefferson and Cobble Hill Pottery's John Robertson, the art of Harriet Hiemstra, glass work by Kiln Art Glass and painted and fired glassware by Terry Harrison, who will be on hand working in a nice shady spot.

The vineyard looks wonderful - come at 10 am if you would like a tour with Giordano.

Make other arrangements for your children and pets and prepare to relax at one of the picnic tables or on the "lawn". Farm's Gate Foods is cash only. We accept credit and debit cards in our store.

Here is the menu for the day. All small plates are $5 each

  • Mac & Cheese With Ham, Chipotle & Blue Cheese
  • Cajun Spiced Salmon Kebab
  • Chicken Liver Pate on Toast With Curried Date & Onion Chutney
  • Peaches & Cream Corn Salad, Ancho Chili, Lime & Cilantro
  • Braised Fennel With Olives and Thyme
  • Crispy Potato & Chorizo Fritters
  • Risotto Arancini with Tomato Arrabbiata
  • Potato Gnocchi with Parmesan & Truffle Oil
